Baron Munchausen's Dream

Synopsis

After an extravagant dinner, Baron Munchausen falls asleep beneath a large mirror. Dancers turn into monsters, his bed wanders through strange settings, and apparent awakenings lead into fresh attacks. The boundary between his room and his nightmares becomes increasingly unreliable.

Inspirations

Méliès borrows the name of Rudolf Erich Raspe's famous adventurer but gives him a largely independent series of dreams. The film was among the productions Méliès made for distribution by Pathé.
