Synopsis

Fanchon lives apart from the village with her grandmother, surrounded by gossip and accusations of witchcraft. Saving a young man from drowning opens the possibility of love, but prejudice and family obligations complicate their relationship. Her loyalty must survive a separation that allows others to mistake delay for rejection.

Cast

Inspirations

The story adapts George Sand's La Petite Fadette, placing a socially excluded young woman at the center of a rural romance. Mary Pickford plays Fanchon, whose practical kindness challenges the village's judgment of her.
