Synopsis

Cedric leaves his modest New York home when he unexpectedly becomes heir to an English earldom. His grandfather expects to shape the boy into an aristocrat, but Cedric's trust and generosity begin to change the older man instead. A rival claim to the inheritance then threatens the place he and his mother have found in this unfamiliar world.

Cast

Inspirations

The story comes from Frances Hodgson Burnett's novel about an American child entering the English aristocracy.

Behind the scenes

Mary Pickford plays both Cedric and his mother. The dual performance makes this adaptation a particularly striking example of the adult star's work in child roles.
