On the Roofs

Synopsis

Two burglars climb across a building's rooftops and attack a woman at her window. A policeman follows her cries, only to become caught in the thieves' trap. The roof becomes a compact arena for pursuit and an incompetent rescue.

Cast

Behind the scenes

Méliès uses a constructed rooftop setting to organize the short's entrances, heights and movement. The comedy draws on theatrical scenery as much as on the chase itself.
