Synopsis
Charlie helps recruit a ship's crew by force, only to be knocked unconscious and taken aboard himself. The vessel is intended to be destroyed for insurance money, and the woman he loves has secretly joined the voyage. His difficulties with shipboard work and rough weather become a more urgent struggle when the plan to sink the ship begins.
Cast
Behind the scenes
Chaplin makes the moving deck and ship's galley into shifting comic spaces. The insurance plot supplies a danger that connects those mechanical routines with the stowaway romance.
