Synopsis

A magician blows bubbles that become floating faces and then women with butterfly wings. After making the tableau disappear, he joins the transformations himself and rises into the air as an enormous bubble.

Behind the scenes

Stage machinery, multiple exposures and dissolves combine the human figures with the floating forms. Méliès later developed the bubble motif in an illusion performed at his own theatre.
