Synopsis
A guest arrives at a health resort carrying enough alcohol to undermine any proposed treatment. His attempts to negotiate revolving doors, therapeutic routines and a formidable masseur create disturbances throughout the hotel. When his liquor is emptied into the supposedly restorative spring, the establishment's promise of sober, healthy living takes an unexpected turn.
Cast
Historical context
The comedy revolves around the contradiction between the resort's health regimen and its guest's habits. Chaplin's character here is an affluent patient, allowing the film to direct its disruptions toward an institution intended to regulate the body.
