The Electric Hotel

Synopsis

Two guests arrive at a hotel where machinery makes luggage, brushes and other objects attend to their needs. Automated service initially seems effortless. When a drunken attendant interferes with the controls, the same system turns furniture and rooms into chaos.

Behind the scenes

Segundo de Chomón uses stop motion and the animation of live performers to imagine a fully mechanized hotel. The visual comedy depends on services becoming both wonderfully efficient and impossible to control.
