Synopsis
An American veteran returns to France in search of a jewelled religious relic he encountered during the war. A guide becomes involved in his journey, while another man pursues the same object for his own reasons. The chase moves through a landscape where wartime secrets, material value and spiritual meaning remain difficult to separate.
The story connects a postwar treasure hunt to the Allied landings in southern France. That wartime background supplies a historical setting for a fictional adventure; it does not establish that the stolen relic's journey actually happened.
French locations and Monaco provide much of the film's physical setting. Their use gives this American-French production a different texture from adventures that recreated Europe entirely on Hollywood stages.
