Synopsis
A journalist meets an exuberant young woman in Paris during the celebrations at the end of the war. Their romance grows within a family accustomed to pursuing pleasure despite uncertain finances. Marriage, frustrated literary ambition and changing fortunes gradually alter the life they expected to share in the city.
F. Scott Fitzgerald's Babylon Revisited is the starting point, but the film relocates its atmosphere from the aftermath of the 1920s to postwar Paris. It also recasts the central man as an aspiring writer, substantially reshaping the story's social setting.
