Synopsis
A San Francisco saloon gathers workers, dreamers and people looking for a place to belong. From his table, the enigmatic Joe observes their arrivals and offers money or advice. Their intersecting stories gradually turn the bar into a small portrait of a city.
William Saroyan's play became a personal project for the Cagney brothers. The production's extended preparation and rising costs reflect their commitment to bringing its ensemble world to the screen.
