Synopsis

A Supreme Court justice hoping for a quiet hunting trip encounters a local official demanding an improper payment. Concealing his position, he discovers a town governed through similar abuses. An honest lawyer's campaign for mayor gives the unexpected visitor a reason to stay.

Cast

Historical context

The comedy makes small-town corruption a test of democratic principles. Its contrast between a citizen's treatment and the authority he secretly holds gives the political argument a practical, everyday setting.
