Synopsis

A Boston dance teacher is forced aboard a pirate ship and escapes when it reaches the California coast. Carrying little beyond the tools of his profession, he enters a community ready to misunderstand his arrival. His unlikely background becomes the basis of a musical adventure.

Behind the scenes

The film was an early feature made with three-strip Technicolor and the first musical in that process. Its dances and costumes provided an opportunity to showcase colour as a central attraction.
