Synopsis
A steel magnate loses his legs and control of his business after a rival engineers an accident. Living under another name, he finds an ally in a blind street trader. Together they organise people surviving at society's margins, creating a different route back to influence.
Adapted from Esther Lynd Day's novel during the Great Depression, the film imagines collective organisation among people excluded from conventional prosperity. Its melodrama brings disability, economic insecurity and industrial power into the same story.
