Synopsis
A witness identifies a businessman as the man he heard speaking near a murder scene. Medical testimony insists that the suspect cannot hear or speak, leaving the case suspended between apparently incompatible facts. Two newspaper reporters pursue the puzzle while further deaths make their investigation increasingly dangerous.

The central mystery proved reusable: William Beaudine directed another version as Phantom Killer in 1942. This earlier treatment belongs to the compact mystery productions associated with Monogram in the years before Hollywood's Production Code was strictly enforced.
