Synopsis
Arlette hopes that learning to pick pockets will help her escape the restrictions of reform school. Instead, a failed theft draws her into a diplomat's private scheme and an elegant reception where she must borrow a new identity. What begins as an assignment to steal a watch becomes a romance that her invented past could ruin.

This Parisian comedy reworks the French film Battement de cœur, released in 1940. The American version relocates that earlier screen story into a Ginger Rogers star vehicle, with a mixture of deception, social manners and romantic wish fulfilment.
