Synopsis
Two neighbouring families share the daily rhythms of a New Hampshire town. As George and Emily grow up and marry, apparently ordinary moments acquire a different weight through the passage of time. Their story asks what people notice, and what they overlook, while living their lives.
Thornton Wilder's 1938 play supplies the setting and characters. Its interest in everyday experience gives this literary adaptation a different scale from dramas driven primarily by exceptional events.
