Synopsis
A fortune teller predicts that a woman will lose someone she loves. The warning becomes an obsession when her husband prepares to sail on the Titanic, and she begs him to abandon the journey. His departure leaves her waiting for news while the film follows the damage caused by treating a prediction as an unavoidable certainty.
Cast
Historical context
Released in the year of the Titanic disaster, the short is among the earliest surviving films to incorporate the sinking. Feuillade uses the topical event in a story critical of fortune telling and the fear it can create.
