Synopsis
As the Jack the Ripper murders terrify London, a family rents rooms to a secretive man who works late in the attic. His unusual behaviour begins to trouble his landlady, particularly when he takes an interest in her actress niece. The story turns the intimacy of a shared house into a source of escalating suspicion.

Marie Belloc Lowndes's novel The Lodger turns the fear surrounding Jack the Ripper into a fictional household mystery. This adaptation follows earlier versions by Alfred Hitchcock, Maurice Elvey and John Brahm, offering another interpretation of the suspicious lodger rather than a factual solution to the killings.
