Synopsis

A woodsman learns that a land grabber plans to abduct a rancher's daughter and intervenes before the gang can act. His unconventional rescue makes him look like the kidnapper. When the rancher is killed, the same man must clear himself of murder while protecting the woman whose inheritance has made her a target.

Inspirations

Zane Grey's novel supplies the contest between wilderness skills and organised land theft. The film belongs to a group of Grey adaptations that director Henry Hathaway made with Randolph Scott in 1933, helping establish the actor's long association with Westerns.
