Synopsis

A divorce lawyer retreats to the Canadian wilderness for relief from disputes between men and women. A local trader offers hospitality, but the trader's restless new wife finds the visitor more interesting than backwoods life. Her determination to leave with him turns his peaceful holiday into precisely the kind of romantic entanglement he hoped to escape.

Victor Fleming's adaptation of Sinclair Lewis's novel gives Clara Bow a central role as the energetic Alverna. The comedy sets urban expectations against frontier domestic life, with neither environment providing a simple answer to the characters' dissatisfaction.
