Synopsis

An insurance employee weary of his comfortable routine becomes personally involved in recovering an embezzler's gifts. His encounter with the recipient draws him away from his family and into a dangerous rivalry. The excitement he wanted carries obligations he did not anticipate.

Cast

Inspirations

Jay Dratler's novel places a crime story inside an apparently secure middle-class life. The adaptation makes boredom and dissatisfaction, rather than material desperation alone, a route into noir's world.
