Synopsis

A novelist bets that he can write a story within a day at an isolated winter resort. The supposedly empty inn receives a succession of unexpected visitors, turning his search for solitude into a mystery of its own.

Inspirations

The first sound adaptation follows earlier silent versions of Earl Derr Biggers's novel and George M. Cohan's play. Its writer hero repeatedly encounters the melodramatic devices he uses in his fiction.
