Synopsis
Waiting in a hotel to reunite with her husband, a woman witnesses a killing through a window and becomes unable to explain what she saw. The psychiatrist summoned to help is the very man she must identify. Once she enters his care, the difference between treatment and concealment becomes a matter of survival.

Reception and legacy
The film's use of a murderous psychiatrist divided reviewers. Bosley Crowther of The New York Times objected that it could discourage people distressed by wartime experiences from seeking treatment. Other contemporary critics approached it more simply as a compact suspense picture built around Vincent Price's performance.
