Synopsis

Fresh from agricultural college, a new ranch owner arrives with ambitious ideas and a flock of sheep. Her cattle-raising neighbours regard the animals as a threat to their grazing land. Ranch foreman Gene Autry must negotiate between her confidence, local hostility and men ready to exploit the dispute for their own benefit.

Behind the scenes

Southern California locations, including Garner Valley and the San Jacinto Mountains, stood in for the film's ranch country. The musical programme pairs Gene Autry with Smiley Burnette and the ensemble Jimmy's Saddle Pals, integrating songs into the conflict between new methods and established customs.
