Synopsis

A young reader of Poe is forbidden by his uncle to pursue the woman he loves. Thoughts of suffering and death lead him toward a terrible solution. Concealing an act of violence proves less difficult than escaping the images and fears it produces.

Cast

Inspirations

The film combines material associated with The Tell-Tale Heart and Annabel Lee. Rather than simply illustrating one story, it uses Poe's motifs to explore guilt through the images available to early silent cinema.
