Synopsis
A besieged city approaches surrender as its population runs short of food and hope. A widow decides to enter the enemy camp and use the commander's attraction to her as an opportunity to act. Her private encounter with him becomes the decisive risk on which the community's survival may depend.
The Book of Judith reached the screen through earlier theatrical adaptations. D. W. Griffith's production expanded Biograph's usual scale into a feature-length biblical spectacle, with Blanche Sweet's performance at its centre.
