Synopsis
Enemy agents seek a chemical formula designed to increase the effectiveness of aviation fuel. After intimidation fails to obtain it, they target two scientists whose work holds different parts of the secret. A seemingly casual encounter in a bar opens the way to blackmail, forcing professional responsibility into conflict with threats against loved ones.
Production began shortly after the United States entered the Second World War. The film turns industrial research and ordinary social contacts into potential security vulnerabilities, following a contemporary cycle of inexpensive espionage thrillers about sabotage on the home front.
