Synopsis
A new teacher in an Indiana town refuses to accept the school's verdict on a troublesome pupil. Shockey Carter's fights conceal a fierce loyalty to his father, a decorated veteran struggling with alcohol. As she learns about their home life, classroom prejudice becomes a test of the community's willingness to help a family in difficulty.
