The Famous Box Trick

Synopsis

A stage magician produces a boy from a box, divides him into two and then struggles with the results. Bodies become paper, flags and empty space as the act proceeds. Each apparent destruction prepares another reappearance.

Cast

Behind the scenes

Méliès packs a series of substitution splices into a single short stage act. The box supplies a familiar magician's prop while editing allows transformations beyond a conventional live performance.
