Synopsis

MGM gathers its performers for a succession of songs, dances and comedy sketches presented by Jack Benny and Conrad Nagel. Stars associated with dramatic films appear alongside variety entertainers, with each act offering a different attraction. The revue has no continuous fictional plot; its subject is the studio ensemble displaying its talents for the sound camera.

Cast

Historical context

Made during the transition to talking pictures, the production tests the possibilities of a studio musical built around familiar stars and separate performances. It also incorporates Technicolor sequences within a predominantly black-and-white presentation.
