Synopsis
On a tropical island, a dancer attracts a drifting drinker and a sickly visitor seeking a healthier climate. Their competing affections unfold around a missionary household and differing views of the island's life. An attack from a neighbouring community forces the drifter to act on responsibilities he has previously avoided.
Exterior filming took place in the Bahamas and Florida alongside work on The Love Flower. Clarine Seymour made her final appearance in the film, dying shortly after its release. The invented South Seas setting reflects the exoticising viewpoint of contemporary Hollywood.
