Synopsis
An Italian woman tending a lighthouse during the war shelters a man who claims to be an American deserter. Their secret marriage gives her companionship amid repeated family losses. When a signal she sends is followed by the sinking of a ship, evidence about her husband's identity forces her to reconsider the life they have built.
