Synopsis

An embittered whaling captain takes aboard a young sailor suffering from romantic disappointment of his own. An accidental loss of drinking water provokes unrest and sends the ship toward an island. Rescuing two survivors there brings an unexpected personal connection into a command already strained by resentment and the threat of mutiny.

Cast

Behind the scenes

Scenes were filmed aboard the ship Fox off Balboa in Southern California. Hobart Bosworth's captain gives the maritime adventure a domestic wound, linking the tensions of shipboard authority to a history he has never resolved.
