Synopsis

Cowboy Tex Benton reaches a border town, befriends a man he rescues and enters a rodeo. A stalled train introduces him to Alice Marcum, but his confidence becomes less useful when he competes with an eastern visitor for her affection.

The story comes from James B. Hendryx's novel The Texan. Its rivalry gives the fable of the tortoise and the hare a western setting, with Tom Mix as the impulsive competitor.
