Synopsis

Returning from college, Bryce Cardigan finds his father's timber business threatened by a rival who controls the local railway. The dispute also endangers the redwood grove where Bryce's mother is buried. A dangerous logging train, a plan for a competing railway and Bryce's attraction to his adversary's niece turn the business struggle into a personal battle.

Inspirations

Peter B. Kyne's novel supplied the story, with filming in California's Humboldt County. The rediscovery of a print in Russia brought the film back after decades in which it was considered lost.
