Synopsis

An English nobleman captured in a raid is sold into a Viking household, where his courage attracts a woman's protection and a rival's hostility. He joins Leif Ericsson's westward expedition as competing loyalties divide the travellers. Romance, religion and the search for land beyond Greenland become part of the same uncertain voyage.

Cast

Behind the scenes

The production used Technicolor's dye-transfer Process 3 and a synchronised musical soundtrack. Its colour design belongs to the original filmmaking, while the adventures around Leif Ericsson remain a romantic fiction rather than a documentary account of Norse exploration.
