The Yellow Ticket

Synopsis

A soldier returns to a village where his family cannot survive on the poor land available to them. His wife takes work as a wet nurse in a wealthy city household, believing her wages will protect those left behind. Employers exploit her inability to read, separating her from news of home and leaving her vulnerable to abuse, dismissal and police suspicion.
