An apparently simple retrieval becomes a tense negotiation with the consequences of his wartime choices.

Historical context

This Italian-American production places an American crime-film lead among Italian performers and locations. Its mixture of filmmaking traditions gives the familiar pursuit of hidden money a postwar European setting; the Italian release used the title Tre passi a nord.
