An Hour with Chekhov

Synopsis

Three stories reveal people adjusting their behavior to rank and authority. A young wife's social success separates her from her struggling family; a clerk cannot stop apologizing for a small accident; and an official's judgment changes with the status of the person involved. Together, the episodes turn deference and ambition into sources of both comedy and humiliation.
