Synopsis
A wealthy hostess celebrates the return of explorer Captain Spaulding with a society weekend and the unveiling of a valuable painting. Several guests independently plan to substitute copies for the original. The Marx Brothers turn the resulting confusion into an occasion for verbal attacks, musical interruptions and a sustained assault on the party's carefully arranged respectability.
Cast
Inspirations
The brothers bring their successful stage musical to the screen, preserving routines alongside a loose art-theft plot. Groucho's celebrated explorer provides an especially unstable center for the gathering's claims to refinement.
