Synopsis

A Florida hotel struggles to extract money from its guests while its manager promotes dubious real-estate opportunities. A young architect's romance competes with a socially acceptable suitor who is planning a jewel theft. Into these schemes come two disruptive visitors, turning auctions, business language and hotel service into opportunities for the Marx Brothers' disorder.

Inspirations

Adapted from the brothers' Broadway musical, the film combines routines with songs by Irving Berlin. Production at Paramount's Astoria studio allowed the performers to continue their stage engagement in Animal Crackers while making the picture.
