Synopsis
Two former entertainers enter Army life with very different temperaments and ambitions. One longs to escape a routine posting, while the other struggles for a pass to visit his family. Orders, rehearsals and romantic misunderstandings repeatedly collide, making the training base a stage for Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis's contrasting comic styles.

Inspirations
James Allardice's Broadway farce was adapted for Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. Two stage characters were combined into Lewis's screen role, showing how the material was reorganised around the comedy partnership rather than simply filmed as a play.
Behind the scenes
The film was shot in 1949, premiered at the end of 1950 and reached general American release in January 1951. Its release was followed by a contractual dispute over the duo's remaining commitments to Screen Associates and their work for producer Hal Wallis.
