Synopsis

Dolores marries a writer after violence destroys her life in the Canadian wilderness. On an Arctic voyage, she encounters the criminal responsible for her father's death, now commanding their ship. When her husband is injured, her knowledge of the landscape and bond with animals become crucial to their escape.

Cast

Inspirations

Star and screenwriter Nell Shipman reshaped James Oliver Curwood's story to make Dolores an active rescuer rather than a supporting figure. The adaptation places a woman's courage and wilderness skills at the centre of a film that became an important early Canadian success.
