Synopsis
A married woman kills her lover and first hopes that her husband will accept responsibility. When the case reaches court, she discovers that notoriety can become a form of celebrity. Lawyers, journalists and spectators help transform a killing into a public performance, while her husband's devotion is tested by the story she tells.

Maurine Dallas Watkins drew her play from the real Beulah Annan murder case she had covered as a reporter. This first screen adaptation gives Amos Hart a more active and sympathetic role than some later versions of the same material.
