Synopsis

A wealthy young woman must marry to receive her inheritance. She chooses a condemned miner whose execution appears certain, paying him enough to provide for his younger sister. When another man's confession sets the prisoner free, the arrangement becomes an actual marriage, bringing her fashionable social circle into contact with a husband it was never supposed to meet.
