Synopsis
Shortly before Pearl Harbor, a man who believes he has intercepted suspicious activity at sea is instead convicted of helping it. His imprisonment leaves the people close to him confronting both official disbelief and the consequences of his absence. The drama unfolds under the shadow of approaching war.
The story rights moved from Samuel Goldwyn to Columbia before production. Earlier plans for different leading actors show how the project changed hands and shape before reaching the screen.
