Synopsis
Norma falls in love with a young man her father considers unsuitable. Their plan to marry is endangered by gossip after an evening spent together, and her father's determination to protect the family's standing leads to violence. The aftermath forces her to confront the competing demands of loyalty, reputation and the truth about the man she loves.
Cast
Behind the scenes
Coquette was Mary Pickford's first talking feature. The role marked a deliberate move away from her familiar youthful screen image, and her performance received the Academy Award for Best Actress.
