Synopsis
A determined suitor meets a woman equally unwilling to yield. Courtship becomes a contest of language, performance and control within a household arranging marriages. Shakespeare's comedy asks its players to negotiate a union through an aggressively theatrical battle of wills.
Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks starred together in the play's first sound-film adaptation. Pickford already had one talkie behind her; the production records two major silent stars adapting their partnership to spoken performance.
