Synopsis

Railway boss Dan Thorn gives a drifting former engineer another chance at work. The new man's growing relationship with Dan's fiancée turns generosity into a painful rivalry, against a background of demanding railway duties and physical danger.

Behind the scenes

Much of the film was shot on the Milwaukee Road in Montana, including the Miles City yards and Sixteen Mile Canyon. Working railway locations give the melodrama its machinery and landscapes.
